∙ 13y agoYou could be thinking of two types of column. The Doric column has no decoration at all on the top, but the Ionic column has a simple curl on each side. To be certain, look at the base of the column in question. If your column is flat on the ground with no decoration at the top, it is Doric. If it's base is raised, and had a curled capital, it is Ionic.
