Dalmatians
The scientific name for orangutan is Pongo. There are three species within the genus Pongo: Pongo abelii (Sumatran orangutan), Pongo pygmaeus (Bornean orangutan), and Pongo tapanuliensis (Tapanuli orangutan).
The two Orangutan species are the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) and the Bornean orangutan (Pongo abelli)
In the story of "101 Dalmatians," the dog that helps save the puppies is Pongo, the male Dalmatian. Alongside his partner Perdita, Pongo takes the lead in the rescue mission. They receive help from several other animals, including the clever cat, and various farm animals, but Pongo is central to the effort to save the Dalmatians from the villainous Cruella de Vil.
In the 1956 children's book, The Hundred and One Dalmatians, the adults dogs are Pongo and Missis Pongo, often referred to as Missis. There is a dog named Perdita who has been abandoned and helps them take care of the puppies; her long lost love, another Dalmatian named Prince, finds her toward the end of the book. In the 1961 Disney film, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, the two adult dogs are named Pongo and Perdita.
