Firstly, fungi are split into 2 main categories and here are some examples:

In that way, you have different types of fungi. But there is an odd exception about Candida albicans- when it is in a normal acidic environment of the vagina, it is in yeast form. When the pH of the vagina increases or becomes less acidic, it transforms into hyphae-like structures. Hence, this is a dimorphic fungus and this is what I could remember from my university lectures.
