Why is there a M on your hand?

Have you ever heard of palm reading. Palm reading is where they take a look at the lines on your palm and they tell you what it is.So if we are looking at the M on your left hand then the left side of the M is your life line the middle line of the M is your head line and the right side of the M is your Heart line.Biological answer:The "m" was not made part of the human hand so that palm readers could tell our fortune. If you hold your hand palm up, then bend in your thumb a bit slightly inwards, and do the same with the four fingers, bringing them slightly towards the thumb, you will see where it makes the "m" more pronounced. The "m" is actually the crease where your hands bend inwards.

Fingerprints are caused by?

Finger prints are made by dermal ridges on the fingers. You also have much larger ridges on the palms of the hand. They prevent slipping while you are holding on to things.

Why the fingers shrink after bath?

The skin will wrinkle because your skin is made up of two layers. The outer layer is called the epidermis and the lower level is the dermis. The outer layer (epidermis) produces an oily substance called sebum. You can see this substance when you touch a window or mirror and your "oily" fingerprint is left there. One job sebum does is it keeps water out of your skin-a job that it does very well. However, after long periods of time in a swimming pool, shower, or bathtub, much of the sebum is washed off and your outer layer of skin starts to absorb water. As it absorbs water it swells, but since the epidermis is "tied" down to your dermis in certain spots, it expands more where it is not "tied" down and this causes your skin to wrinkle. The difference between your skin and a raisin is that raisins wrinkle because they shrink, but your skin wrinkles because it is getting bigger. Once you get out of the pool or tub, the water that your skin absorbed will evaporate, your skin will return to its usual size, and you body will produce more sebum. Your fingers and toes will be back to normal in no time.

How many fingers does the spider monkey have?

Chimpanzees, like *all* primates have five fingers or four fingers and a thumb depending how you look at it. Their hands are very much like the hands of a human. See Related Links for a picture showing the hands of various primates including that of the chimpanzee.Actually, a chimp, like other primates (other than the human) has five fingers, without an opposing thumb. This is why a chimp cannot grasp certain things that a human can, which has the opposing thumb. A chimp does not have a thumb, per se.

What makes the sound when you snap your fingers?

Stick your thumb in a coke bottle and "pop" it out.Clap you hands when flat and then when cupped (much louder). The majority of the sound is from the rapid change in air compression. In the case of the fingers, the air pocket made by the lower 2 fingers when rapidly struck by the releasing middle finger.Others can "snap" their fingers by actually using the thumb with other fingers in a fist (like the coke bottle above)Another example is the "pop" made by rapidly pulling your tongue from the roof of your mouth.Bulls**t, its caused by your finger hitting the palm of your hand, watch yourself doing it. Then try to click them without letting your finger hit your palm. See
