Most guitar musicians play a variety of types and brands. In the Beatles early days, because they were living and working in Germany, they purchased the relatively cheap Rickenbacker Guitars. George also played the Gretsch Country Gentleman and in his later Beatle days, a Fender Telecaster. It is also well documented that he played Gibson and Epiphone guitars.
It was a sunburst J-200 Gibson.Supposedly he eventually gave this Gibson to his friend Bob Dylan. Dylan can be seen holding this guitar on the cover of his album" Nashville Skyline" and playing it at the Isle of Wight concert(with The Beatles in attendance).
He played several brands of guitars, but the most famous one was his Gretsch 62 Ebony
Gretsch Country Gentleman, Rickenbacker 12-string, Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul, and many others.
