During the industrialization period, immigrants often lived in tenement houses. These were overcrowded apartment buildings that were divided into small units, with multiple families sharing a single apartment. These tenements were usually located in urban, industrial areas and lacked proper sanitation and adequate living conditions.

During the period between 1905 to 1914, approximately 9.2 million immigrants entered the United States. This population was more diverse that the immigrants that came in the early to middle of the 19th Century. In this period there were more Italian and Polish immigrants, that numbered among the additional people from Ireland and Germany.
It is estimated that around 20,000 Chinese immigrants arrived in California between 1849 and 1852. This was in response to the California Gold Rush, as many Chinese immigrants sought opportunities in mining and other industries in California during this period.

There are many large reason for this, but the main reason would definentaly be all the immigrants coming in through Ellis and Angel Islands with hope for oppurtunity. These immigrants wanted to work. This vastly skyrocketed the American economy.

During the 1970s, many Latin American immigrants came to the United States from countries such as Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Mexico was the largest source of Latin American immigrants during that period.
The majority of immigrants to Texas during the 1820's were from the South. These people did not want to give up their slaves. Other people who came to Texas during that period were Eastern Europeans from Sweden, Denmark, and Ireland.
