A hardwood (deciduous) tree has leaves that fall off in the autumn. They can be any size or shape.
Deciduous...meaning they drop their leaves, or needles.
It is a hardwood. I have long understood it to be as simple as, if the tree never loses it's needles/leaves (is an evergreen), it is a softwood. Even Balsa is a hardwood. If the leaves drop each year due to cold, it is a hardwood. However, I don't know if trees in tropical climates ever lose their leaves. So I learned that hardwoods surround their seed with some sort of covering (such as chestnut, walnut and apple trees) whereas evergreens (softwoods) let their seeds drop to the ground.
Technically, mahogany is a hardwood. Not because of its density, but because of the type of seed it produces. Hardwood trees produce seeds with some type of shell, like a walnut, apple, or oak (acorn). Softwood seeds have no shell (and are often in cones), such as pine, fir, or cedar. Generally but not always, hardwood trees are deciduous (lose their leaves seasonally), while softwood trees are evergreen.
yes bloody hard in Australia it has many type where i come from in Queensland there are type call ironwood ironbark red gum and many others and they are all very hard
They can grow anywhere other trees grow. Hardwoods are known as Conifers & they lose their leaves in the winter. Non hardwood trees, are call dicidous trees and dont lose their green in winter. Bamboo is a Grass not a wood at all & some hardwood trees are sofether than some Dicidous trees so its an imprecise designation.
what do the leaves look like on a hardwood tree
Broad leaves if from hardwood trees.
Hardwood comes from trees with wide leaves, while softwood comes from conifers like cypress and pines. The chestnut tree is a hardwood tree.
Yes as trees with needles are usually Softwood and trees with leaves are usually Hardwood
hardwood trees lose their leaves
These trees have needles or scale-like leaves and are very different from hardwood trees which have broad, flat leaves and usually without cones. You can easily identify a conifer from a hardwood.
All trees have leaves.
The type of wood used in hardwood flooring varies. The most common type of wood used in hardwood flooring is timber. Another common but more exotic wood in hardwood flooring is bamboo.
Hardwood!!!! HARDWOOD!!!!
There are many good types of Cherry hardwood floors to use. The best type of Cherry hardwood floors to use would probably the Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors.
Hardwood trees lose their leaves in Autumn, facing the Winter, bare branched and in hibernation until the warmer weather and longer daylight hours arrive in Spring.
To my knowledge, any deciduous tree ( A tree that loses it's leaves in the winter) is considered a hardwood. Even the Tulip Poplar tree that is most often mistaken for a softwood, is a hardwood tree.
