Any biopsy involves a surgeon and/or a radiologist taking a sample of tissues from one's body to determine presence of a disease. A pathologist then would examine the cells either under a microscope or chemically in order to determine the extent of a disease.
That would be an electron microscope.
So far as I know, this would be called an electron microscope.
You would use a microscope
Someone who wanted to examine tiny organisms would have to use a microscope.

Macroscopic is when something is large enough to be perceived or examined by the unaided eye, where as microscopic is where you need an eye aid to help examine it. Example: For a rock you could examine it with your eyes without the use of a microscope, it would be macroscopic. The microscopic cell beside it, which you cannot see without a microscope, would be microscopic.
Histopathology is the study of the diseases of cells. So the histo department would examine cells from a liver biopsy to see what is causing the liver disease, the liver being made up of millions and millions of cells.
