Recommends a 10-30 weight motor oil for its Montero sport model. A heavier weight oil can be used in extremely hot climates.

10W-30 motor oil is recommended for a Montero sport, under normal conditions. When the vehicle is used in a very hot climate 10 W 40 motor oil is recommended.
You'll need a calibration tool, but since you're asking I'm assuming you don't have one. Also, you'll need a type of screwdriver to adjust head lamps...although it may be easier to take to dealership -- also I believe Autozone will do this type of thing free for you. verify the free part.
I recently purchased a 2001 mitsusbishi montero and through many problems and much research I've found that it calls for Diamond SP-ll /SP-lll. Also Castrol makes a transmission fluid called "Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle ATF" this fluid can also be used.

I live in Minnesota. In the summer I use 10w-30 and in the winter I use 10w-40. I have been told that I can use 5w-30 as well, but have never tried it, as the manual suggests 10w-30 or 40. Its all in the manual for the car, take a look in there as well.
Depending on the year model, there should be a black resovoir on the passenger side(under the hood). You should use the same type of fluid as your transmission, again depending on the year model.
