You should run at the very most a 5w oil. Running a 10w may result in it being too thick to pump or cause issues with oil starvation at cold temperatures. In really cold climates you should run a 0w oil. Please note that the "w" rating (i.e. 0w, 5w, 10w) does not mean for example that the oil is actually a 0 weight at "tempurature" (which means running tempurature) but actually a 0 weight at "0w" temperatures. This allows the oil to flow at colder temperatures, but the oil usually costs more and can cause problems with burning in engines with loose tolerances. However this won't be an issue in a "recent" year Taurus.
