Air Force One is the call sign used describe any aircraft carrying the US President, so in theory Air Force One could be any type of aircraft.

The official Presidential fleet consists of two customised Boeing 747s, either of which may be colloquially referred to as Air Force One. However this only becomes the official designation when the President is on board.

The aircraft commonly referred to as Air Force One is a turbojet powered airplane. The aircraft that is used to transport the president is a Boeing 747-200B which carries the military designation VC-25A. Although this aircraft is commonly used to transport the president, any airplane on which the president flies has the call sign Air Force One.

Air Force One is a private jet just for the president.

Can the first lady travel in airforce one without the president there?

The answer to your question is No. There is no actual physical aircraft that is Air Force One. Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign of any aircraft whenever the current president of The United States of America is physically aboard that aircraft. The two most common aircraft referred to as Air Force One are Boeing VC-25s, highly modified versions of the 747-200B, with tail numbers 28000 and 29000. Both aircraft travel together with the president, one serving as a decoy for obvious reasons.

What is the radio sign when the president aboard his airplane or any other air force aircraft?

Air Force One. If the president is in a military operated aircraft, that aircraft will always be "(branch of service) One". The helicopter which transports the President is operated by the Marines, and is known as Marine One. If the President were in an Army, Navy, or Coast Guard aircraft, it would be known as Army One, Navy One, or Coast Guard One, respectively.

What is the tail number on air force one?

Air Force One is any U.S. Air Force Aircraft that the President of the United States(POTUS) is on. If POTUS is on a USAF helicopter it would become Air Force One. The Primary Aircraft used to transport POTUS are two (Boeing 747-200bs) VC-25s. Unlike civil aircraft, for which the tail number on all U.S. registered aircraft begins with the letter N, military aircraft are strictly numeric. The tail numbers of the two Presidential VC-25s are currently 28000 and 29000. As seen in these photos dated 23-Apr-2010
