A meat probe should be used to check the temperature of a pot roast. It is stuck into the thickest part of the meat and near a bone if one is present for the most accurate reading.
You can use an immersion probe to check the internal temperature of a pot of soup. You can also use a thermocouple with a surface probe to check the internal soup temperature.
If the space probe is approaching the sun and is always facing the sun, then the probe sun-ward side should be very warm; but overall the probe will be at the same or close to it's internal temperature (unless it doesn't have insulation; in which case it will be about 3 degrees Kelvin - which is the actual temperature of space.)

If its just turns on a fan you can put th probe in some boiling water and check the contanuity.

this is a thermometer that can work twice as much as a normal thermometer or a thermometer that can check the temperature of two things at the same time
