Intravenous urography
Cystogram if dye is injected in the bladder, and micturating cystogram if dye is injected intravenously for IVP for kidney and bladder x'rays
voiding cystourethrography
There are at least a couple of radiographic studies of the kidneys and ureters using a contrast medium. In an intravenous pyelogram, or IVP, contrast medium is injected into a vein prior to imaging. In a VCUG, contrast medium is injected into the bladder to create an image.
A nephrostogram is a medical procedure that involves a radiograph of the kidneys after a contrast dye has been injected. The nephrostogram then traces the flow of urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
After administration of anesthesia, the doctor will insert a thin, tubelike instrument called a catheter through the patient's urethra and into the bladder. The contrast medium is then injected through the catheter
A cystogram is an x-ray of the bladder with contrast.
In some institutions registered nurses in radiology are responsible for assessing patients who will receive oral or IV contrast for a CT exam. They will review your allergies and medications and make sure your kidneys are functions properly since IV contrast is eliminated from your body through your kidneys. They may be the ones to place your IV and inject the contrast. Normally the IV contrast used for a CT scan is injected very rapidly. A power injector is used for adult patients. Nurses may also give rectal contrast or fill your bladder with a diluted contrast solution for specialized exams that image your bladder.
Voiding Cystourethrogram
A cystogram is an x-ray of the bladder after contrast. You can also have a voiding cystogram, which looks at changes in the bladder during urination.Cystography is a radiographic, or x-ray, examination of the bladder after a contrast medium is instilled via a urethral catheter (cyst/o means bladder, and -graphy means the process of creating a picture or record). The resulting film is a cystogram
A Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography would be necessary if it is suspected that a person has a problem with their pancreas, gall bladder or liver. Prior to the test, a contrast dye will be taken either orally or injected into the blood stream so that the organs being studied will appear more clearly in the scan.
The kidneys are connected to the bladder by the ureters. These are small muscular tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. They connect to the kidney at the hilus. In contrast, the urethra is the tube leading from the bladder to the outside of the body.
Collagen periurethral injection is a procedure in which collagen is injected around the urethra and bladder neck as a treatment for stress incontinence in women
