Astronomer
That would be the job of an astronomer, except that, in space, a meteor would be called a meteroid. They are only meteors for the brief flash of time they enter an atmosphere, such as our atmosphere. The light is caused by the frictional heat ablation (burning off) of surface material. If they manage to hit the ground, they become meteorites.
An astronomer would study asteroids since they study the universe and planetary motion.

Neither. A meteor is not a planet. A meteor is a piece of rock or metal falling through the atmosphere.
The lightning would travel through the meteor or through the plasma sheath around it. Some of the surface of the meteor may melt, though this will happen to a meteor anyway. Otherwise the meteor would be unaffected. The stress of atmospheric entry is much greater than any stress created by the lightning.
Earth's movement through cometry dust is the main reason for meteor showers.

A meteriod is a floating piece of rock in space. It becomes a meteor when it is flying through the atmosphere. The piece of rock that survives the trip through the atmosphere is called a meteorite.
yes they could.
Their all flying objects.
Because certain meteor showers repeat year after year, on the same dates.
