Full choked barrels are not ideal for slugs, but if pressed we would use a sabot-loaded projectile.
Yes, you can. I have shot countless lead slugs through a full choke, although greater accuracy can be attained by using a modified choke or a non choked barrel.
i have a 12 gauge unrifled barrel 500 model.what type of slug do you reccomend for the mossberg
I believe that it can, however a full choke is not reccomended. Also certain slugs and loads should not be used. otherwise you could see your cutts tube ripped off the muzzle and sent hurling downrange. Best advice is to contact Lyman with your particular needs for a slug (application such as Deer Hunting / range desired etc.) Lyman still makes Cutts Compensators and choke tubes. They can recommend the brand or slug type and load for shooting in your Browning cutts shotgun.
I have a belgium 12 gauge browning shot gun with the serial #B67119. I am trying to find out what type or size choke it has
# They relate to choke type, i.e., full, modified....
No way of answering without the make of the shotgun, the model number of the shotgun, and the type of shotgun along with its overall condition, including the bore.
Yes, as long as it is the correct gauge.
That model has the optional full choke. The chock seriously decreases the value. At our shop we would price this gun, full retail at around $240. That's on the high side. You should expect to see around $175 usd
rifled choke tubes for sabot slugs and cylinder or improved cylinder choke tube for foster type slugs. you can shoot slugs with semi-auto. experiment to find what cycles the best without jamming.
Yes you can shoot slugs through a screw on Polly choke although it is ill advised! The choke must be opened to "improved cylinder" or "open bore "before firing any slug or solid type ammo. The one time you forget to use this setting then you may experience barrel swelling or worse , you could blow off your choke. So Why risk it? How many humans never forget?
Depends on what gauge, type of use (hunt, compete, home defense), etc.
Rifled slugs are made of soft lead purposely for use in smooth bore shotguns. Actually the "rifling" on the slug deforms to allow the slug to pass through the choke in the bore. If your firearm is of modern manufacture and in good condition it should be safe. Of course it goes without saying that you must use the appropriate type (i.e 2-3/4", 3", etc.) and gauge (410, 20, 12 etc.) of ammunition for which your firearn was designed. If in doubt, have a reputable gunsmith check it out for you.
