ATF +4

ATF +4 for an automatic.
A 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ manual transmission engine can be filled with 6 quarts of fluid. Its cooling system, on the other hand, can be filled with 11 quarts fluid.
Dot 3 brake fluid.
5 quarts
Mopar ATF+4 trans fluid
The brake system uses brake fluid and the trans uses trans fluid.
The manual transmission takes gear oil. I prefer the lucas heavy duty 80/90 gear oil... It works great The automatic take MOPAR ATF+4.
On the drivers side of the transmission there are two plugs, they take a torx bit. One is about mid way up the side, and the other is on the bottom, bottom is for draining, and the other is for filling. Fill until fluid runs back out of the hole, you are done.
check transmission fluid level check condition of transmission fluid,if dark in color it is burnt and needs replacing. other than that your transmission is wearing out
one way... take off the shifter boot cover, then unbolt the shifter from the trans and pour directly in If you look on the passenger side of the trans there is a big bolt ya can take out to fill
