Guinea Pigs can eat wood, its okay. Many guinea pigs will eat their own bedding-which is sawdust (wood).
They need to chew on hard objects or their teeth will get to long and it will be harder for them to eat or drink.
Your guinea pig should not eat a large amount of wood, but it is perfectly normal and healthy for a Guinea pig to nibble on wood. Since their teeth never stop growing, nibbling on wood is a good way to wear down the teeth.
Guinea pigs should always have tough grass, hey and wooden sticks to eat and chew on.
Make sure the wood isn't treated with chemical products or infected with fungi though. As a precaution, you could boil a few sticks of wood in water for 10 minutes, then let the wood cool down and dry out before offering it to the animal.
Yes they can but it's not really good for them
Yes, but as long as it is not treated with any kinds of chemicals. You can buy specific chew toys and different woods especially for guinea pigs, from any pet store. Hope that helps.
they can eat hazel wood, apple wood and plum wood
apple wood
They will gnaw on it to keep their ever growing teeth down-which is why it is important to buy the specific wood which is suitably treated so it is safe for you guineas to consume some :)
Guinea pigs don't actually get itchy teeth. They are rodents, and this means their teeth never stop growing. To keep their teeth worn down, they will gnaw the wooden edges of their cage. Maybe this is what you interpret as having itchy teeth. If you don't give your guinea-pig pieces of untreated wood to gnaw on, it's possible for their teeth to grow so long that they can't eat.
Hay and plenty of suitable veggies are great though if they do not have guinea pig muesli or nuggets/pellets then they will need something to gnaw on-suitably treated wood (specifically for guinea pigs) or salt blocks (can be found in most good pet shops) :)
Yes guinea pigs do eat wood they preefer tree bark but they can eat wood and bark, in fact it is 1 of their favorite treats :)
Yes they can
logs, wood
yes they do gnaw. usually on wood.
Guinnea pigs dont eat wood, they gnaw on it. The best thing to do really is to go to your local pet shop and you can buys some flavoured wood things that they gnaw on. Its good for their teeth and helps blunt them down.
No wood chips will not hurt your guinea pig and are often put into their cages for bedding.
Wood cages are not very good because guinea pigs love to chew on wood. If you give your guinea pig a wooden cage, they might chew threw one day. Your pet might get lost!
They like colorful or soft beading. Wood chips aren't the best though
