According to the 2003 Ford Expedition Owner Guide : ( " regular " unleaded gasoline , 87 octane , is used in the 4.6 and 5.4 liter V8 engines )
5 w 20 - according to the owners manual
According to the 2003 Ford Expedition Owner Guide : With engine oil filter change : The 4.6 and 5.4 liter V8 engines take : ( 5.7 liters / 6.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )
The engine take 6.0 qts. of oil with filter. on the 4.6L
It should take about 6 Qt's of Motor Oil. Make sure you also change Oil Filter.
You should have an auto mechanic check the car or take to the Ford dealership.
For the 1999 Ford expedition it is recommended that you use the Ford Premium engine coolant which is green in color. You should not use the Ford extended life engine coolant which is orange in color.
The only way to do that is to take your expedition to your Ford dealer to get your computer flashed.Usually costs between 60 and 150 dollars, but don't quote me on that.
According to the 2003 Ford Expedition Owner Guide : With engine oil filter change : Both the 4.6 and the 5.4 take ( 5.7 liters / 6.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )
( 6 quarts ) with engine oil filter change , according to the Owner Guide
I would take it to a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer and see what they can do about it. If nothing ,take it to a mechanic or anybody you think can fix it.
