it depends on what kind of work you'd want it to do, but Bernese mt. dogs are good if you want them to pull stuff. German shepards, Australian shepards, border collies and even welsh corgis are good for herding. And if you are just looking for a companion, you can't go wrong with golden retrievers. ∙ 13y agoThe best horse breedS for working on a ranch are FOR SURE Quarter horses, pinto paints appaloosa's and even light drafts such as Gelderlanders, friesians, or even gypsy vanners, or fjords, but i would stick 4/4 quarter horse! hope that helps!
