Here is an overview for you about the most famous and main types of clocks available in the current market –

Analog Clocks

The most often used and the most famous types of clocks are Analog Clocks. They have two moving hands one for an hour and another for a minute which can handle the arrangement of a fixed number of dials which are placed in a circle and signifies 12 hours of a day. The shorter hand can actually make exactly 2 revolutions in a day and the longer minute hand can make one revolution every hour. Not always, but sometimes, the long but very thin “seconds” hand can make one revolution per minute. As an analog clock, sundials can also be considered and they represent the longest lasting design of clock in history.

Digital Clocks

The rising digital era has allowed us to gain access to very reliable and precise electronic clocks that can display the time with numeric displays. Two of the most common display formats are 12-hour notation and 24-hour notation in which the clock needs to also show the AM/PM indicator. Digital clocks are gaining recognition over analog clocks with the advancements of the time. The display surface of this clock will not need to inside of a small LEC, LCD, or VFD screen and can also be projected on either a very large public surface or indoor for persons having imperfect vision.

Electronic Word Clocks

These clocks do not use a numeric display but instead that, they will show natural sentences on the screen which will tell us the time. Either with the help of software or hardware, sentences can be recorded.

Auditory Clocks

These types of clocks use a recorded human voice or a machine-generated voice for indicating the time. Again, instead of voice, the time can also be presented in auditory code format. To announce the time in a large area, for blind people or telephony this type of clocks is used often.

Tactile Clocks

Clocks can be also used by people having blindness or imperfect vision which produces a physical representation of the number on their surfaces, either in blind text code or as standard numbers.

Multi-Display Clocks

These clocks can either be digital or analog and the key feature is the ability to show multiple zones of time, having multiple faces, or using several standards of the time.

Master Clock Systems

These are electronic devices providing signals of time synchronization to a number of slave clocks on a network. Typically, the accurate time from a hardware clock source like GLONASS, GPS, Galileo, or other types of sources of precise time.
