This depends on the plant and the severity of the fire. Lodge pole pine require fire to make their seeds viable. They loose their needles in a fire but grow them back in about a week. Fireweed can regrow in only a few days. Most plants however are completely killed in a fire.
When a wild fire happens the only trees that stand a slight chance of surviving is the Palm Tree. Most of the time they will not go up in flame due to the water content of them but it will ruin them for life and most likely kill them from burning of there roots. But remember this, with the intensity and heat of a wildfire nothing can survive if it is over run by the wildfire at the right time. Heat will suck moisture content right out of the tree, cactus, plant or whatever is in its path.
Longleaf pine. That tree, which grows in the southern United States, needs fire as part of its reproductive cycle--the pine cones have the seeds embedded in a resin that's got to be melted off to allow the seeds to sprout.

Forest fires help people because they give off nutrients to the plants that we eat. If the forest fire lasts too long the plants will die.

Forest fires burn plants and tall trees seem to catch on fire quicker that smaller ones since they're so high up.
Forest fires have numerous benefits for plants and animals because they increase diversity. In the process of forest succession, in which bare rock may be converted into mature forests over a long time, certain plants and animals are better adapted to exploiting certain circumstances along that continuum. In fact, there are certain plants and animals that require fires to survive and reproduce. A mature forest requires plants to be shade tolerant, and food is actually quite scarce for most animals. An early successional forest benefits plants that require more sunlight to survive, and promotes the growth of plants that grow and spread quickly. As the forest regrows, its character changes and different plants and animals come and go to exploit the situation that suits them best. Without fires, if everything tended toward mature forest, many plants and animals would have a more difficult time surviving. There is also a complicated web of nutrients that are recycled by way of a forest fire.
