well if you want to the wood FASTER pine, cedar, manzaneta those burn the fastest but if you want more heat oak is the wood you want but it is harder to start and burn slower so what i do is start the fire with pine or cedar and then add the oak but make sure that the wood is dry that way it burns easier :)
Just about any wood CAN be used- but some is better than others. First avoid any wood with toxins- such as poison oak, or lumber that had been treated with chemicals, such as the Chrome-copper- arsenic (CCA) treatment on "salt treated" outdoor lumber.
Next, look for dry wood. Wood that has been cut, split, and air dried for at least 6 months is good- 12 months is better.
Finally, look at the type of wood. Hardwood such as Ash, Oak, and Hickory have high heat values, and burn a long time. Wood such a fir, pine, cedar, poplar have low heat values (you will burn a LOT more for the same heat), burn up quickly, and produce large amounts of creosote in your chimney.
When storing firewood, be aware that it may have bugs, including termites- so avoid storing it against your house.
EDIT - Wet wood contributes to creosote buildup, not soft wood. As long as a soft wood is properly dried through seasoning, it will not produce any more cresote than a hard wood.
For Golf, huh? Well I'd say that a 7 wood could be retardant. Then again, I wouldn't risk playing firegolf so I really don't have the credibility - It's just an assumption.
it can be used as firewood
Most woods can, in some way, be used as firewood. I have not come across any wood that I couldn't use as firewood, but some need a year or more to dry out.
Yes. It makes great firewood. Not as hot as Oak, better than pine and the like.
Oak wood is used for flooring, cabinets, furniture, pallets, firewood, and everywhere a strong attractive wood is required.
The tree of heaven can be used as a firewood. However, this type of wood burns very hot and fast. This wood also creates a lot of ash when burned.
A firewood rack is a useful structure, often made of stainless steel or iron, which is used to stack cut firewood, either indoors or out. It is often used by a homeowner to store wood that they plan to burn in their fireplace during the winter. It is very simple to use. Simply place the cut firewood in a row, ends facing outwards, on the bottom of the rack, then continue to stack in neat rows on top of the previous row. Firewood racks can also be made of wood. These racks are often larger, and used to store firewood for longer periods of time, or to age large quantities of wood in order to prepare it for use as firewood.
Firewood log racks are the best way to store firewood. There are multiple sizes and shapes that can be used to store large quantities of wood outdoors as well as small amounts of firewood next to your fireplace. It's also very helpful to have a log cart or carrier of some kind to transport wood from the outdoor log rack to the indoor firewood storage.
"Log racks are used for firewood and storing wood, it protects and covers the wood and some are also weatherproof. You can find small and big ones depending on your needs and use them to typically store firewood."
A "cord" is a unit of measure for firewood. It is a stack of wood that is 4'x4'x8'. That is 128 cubic feet of wood.
Firewood is typically gathered so that it can be lit on fire. The burning wood can be used as a source of heat when it is cold. The flames can also be used to cook food or to boil water for cooking or bathing.
No. Used for firewood quite a bit. I hate splitting it.
