Any of them a Mid stream urinalysis would probably be the most common one used, where only the middle of the urine is tested, in other words when you urinate the first lot of urine will contain microorganisms therefore will be inaccurate, and also a normal urinalysis would show for renal failure such as high protein, but to be completely sure would to have a blood test and if you creatine levels are high, then you will be on your way to renal failure, although urea being high even when the creatinine is normal will be a indicator to your kidneys starting not to filter as well as it used to be. Drink plenty of water whilst on gentamycin because it is a strong antibiotic and could cause renal failure in patients already with renal dysfunction, also the Dr may give you bio-carbonate for your kidneys, hope that was helpful.
