There are quite a few verses in Bible that support slavery, but probably the most important one is the tenth commandment. Among other things, it says not to covet your neighbour's slaves (usually translated as manservant and maidservant), thus recognising the rights of slaveowners.

To choose an example more or less at random from the New Testament, 1 Peter 2:18: "Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward." [As can be read from the context, 'servants' is actually a euphemism for slaves. 'froward' is archaic English for perverse or difficult to deal with.]
