Peter cut off the ear of Malchus, the High Priest's slave:-
Joh 18:1 After Jesus had said this prayer, he left with his disciples and went across Kidron Brook. There was a garden in that place, and Jesus and his disciples went in.
Joh 18:2 Judas, the traitor, knew where it was, becausemany times Jesus had met there with his disciples.
Joh 18:3 So Judas went to the garden, taking with him a group of Roman soldiers, and some Temple guards sent by the chief priests and the Pharisees; they were armed and carried lanterns and torches....
Joh 18:10 Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the High Priest's slave, cutting off his right ear.The name of the slave was Malchus. Joh 18:11 Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back in its place! Do you think that I will not drink the cup of suffering which my Father has given me?"
Peter wasn't aiming for his ear - he was trying to split Malchus in two from top to bottom, but instead he ducked. As Malchus was the High Priest's slave, he would have been very close to him, so it is likely that Peter was actually after Caiaphas. (If he had not been stopped by Christ, Peter would have been guilty of the first-degree murder of the the High Priest, the Sanhedrin, Temple Guard, and the whole Roman army.)
Several. Jesus, Peter, James, John.
Peter, James, and John accompanied Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane. They did more sleeping than praying.
Peter, James the Greater, and John. James the Greater and John were the "sons of thunder" and Peter became the first leader of the Church. These three were also the only ones to witness the rising of Jarius's daughter and the Transfiguration.
The high priests servants ear was cut by the sword of Peter, please note this is the only defense noted in the bible to save Jesus.
The three apostles who were with Jesus at Gethsemane were Peter, James and John. See Matthew 26:37.Answer /Peter, John son of Zebedee, and James son of Zebedee.
Jesus took the eleven disciples to the place called Gethsemane and told them to sit, but then He took Peter, James and John a little further and told them to, "Stay here and watch with Me". Then going a little further He knelt very close to the ground and prayed to the Father in heaven. (Matthew 26:36-46; Mark 14: 32-42; Luke 22:39-46).
Peter, James and John
Saint Peter denied knowing Jesus three times before the rooster crowed, as Jesus had foretold. This happened when Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. Peter later repented for his actions.
On these three occasions, only Peter, James, and John were allowed to be with Christ: The Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1) To pray after the Passover supper in the garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:37) To Jairus' house to heal his daughter (Mark 5: 37-38)
I don't know about them being referred to as "the circle", but the three disciples of the twelve that Jesus took with him to certain places, like the Mountain of Transfiguration, Garden of Gethsemane, etc. were Simon Peter, James, and John. (Matthew 17)
Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him to watch and pray with him. Three times Jesus prayed that, if it be possible, the cup of suffering might be taken from him. While Jesus prayed for this possibility, he affirmed that if it wasn't possible, he wanted to do the Father's will.
