Too much of any vitamin can be toxic, even Vitamin C they say but.. (To reach such a dose is near impossible) A common vitamin toxicity cause in children and adults is Iron. Also Niacin is known as well as any other NON-Soluable vitamin(s). It is common in people who eat a lot of certain fish and shellfish products. As a general rule IRON is NOT included in most Vitamin supplements. Now Potassium aka Potassium Chloride is even FATAL as it is used in the Lethel Injection. Potassium like in Bananas is the same Vitamin I mean. Insulin is used to counteract potassium and it works both ways.
Vitamin toxicity is a condition in which a person develops symptoms as side effects from taking massive doses of vitamins.
AD
Normally it is from Vitamin deficiencies that they will die. Though you can get Vitamin D toxicity
Toxicity is how poisonous something is and the way it relates to vitamin consumption depends on whether or not you overdose or take too much like ingesting a large amount of vitamins.
No - False
Vitamin toxicity can be prevented by minimizing the use of vitamin supplements.
Most of the vitamins are closely associated with a corresponding vitamin deficiency disease.
In all cases, treatment of vitamin toxicity requires discontinuing vitamin supplements.
The prognosis for reversing vitamin toxicity is excellent for most patients
None of the water soluble vitamins (e.g. B complex, C) can produce toxicity.Niacin, one of the B vitamins does produce a very unpleasant "flushing" at very high doses, but although unpleasant is not a result of toxicity. However these high doses of niacin should only be under a doctor's supervision.
Yes. Several vitamins have some sort of side effect when taken in megadose quantities. Vitamin A most readily comes to mind. Remember that there's usually a very large range between the recommended daily allowance of a vitamin and it's upper limit (the point at which toxicity would become an issue). You'd need to consume at least several hundred percent (sometimes several thousand percent) of the RDA of a vitamin for a period before toxicity would become a problem. Don't fret if you happen to have a Centrum multi-vitamin and a few servings of Total throughout the day. On the otherhand, don't go about popping vitamins like candy and be aware of toxicity levels if you are taking supplements. http://www.umm.edu/patiented/articles/what_vitamins_000039_1.htm Good resource on vitamin toxicity levels.
The diagnosis of vitamin toxicity is usually made on the basis of the patient's dietary or medical history.
