Because she needed something to take her mind off of the war.
This was World War 1, as Marie Curie wasn't alive during World War 2.
Marie Antoinette was born in 1755 and was the daughter of the Empress Maria Theresa. Marie Antoinette married King Louis XVI of France. In 1793, she and her husband were beheaded after the fall of the Bastille.
Marie Antoinette faced many challenges. She was accused of sexually abusing her only child, and they took him/her away from her. There were also rumors that she had affairs with a women whilst married. She was a social reject to France. She might of been a queen, but she wasn't loved by her people. She was never accepted. Finally, the people had enough and finally be-headed her. -from a 6th grader
There are many reasons, I don't know where to begin. The Queen was born in Austria, a small country near Germany. Austria and France were at war for many years and were enemies. When Marie first came to France, she spent a lot and thought nothing of the peasants, who soon fought for revenge. By force, she married Louis Auguste and talked to Madame du Barry. "There are many people at Versailles." Was all she said to her in her entire life.

Unfortunately none of her brothers tried to save her. Her brother Joseph II was emperor of Austria, but he died in 1790. His succesor was Leopold II, another brother of Marie Antoinette, but he died in 1792. His son, Francis II now became emperor (Marie Antoinette's nephew), but at that time, Austria was at war with France, and Francis II had never met his aunt and did not care for her. And so, none of Marie Antoinette's relatives tried to save her.

alongside her husband king Louis the sixteenth (correct me if I'm wrong) she started the revolution called the french revolution.
The Trojan War
Marie-Antoinette, wife and Queen of Louis XVI, was executed by guillotine on the grounds that she had committed treason by corresponding with her relative who ruled Austria, a country at war with France. She was also accused of a number of other crimes, from wasting the national treasure (which was partly true) to quite ridiculous items like incest with her son.
The Revolutionary War

-battle of hastings; King William of France won the battle over King Harold of England.-Assassination of Marie-Antoinette; the Americans were at war and were demanding money from the King of France. The taxes rose to raise enough money to help the Americans but the French thought Marie-Antoinette was spending it on herself. Therefore, they mis-treated her whole family.
They wanted war as they saw it as a win-win situation. If France was victorious in the war, they would be seen as great supporters of the revolution. If they lost, they would have their absolute power restored and everything would go back to normal.
Austria was the country Marie Antoinette came from, the last French Queen at the time of the revolution. It is also the country that France had been in and out of war with for several years. France and Austria weren't good friends so to say. As a matter of fact, to fix this tense relationship between the 2 countries, the empress of Austria, Maria Theresia, cooked up the idea of sending one of her daughters to France to marry the dauphin (crownprince). This daughter was Marie Antoinette. Unfortunately, the relationship between the two countries never bettered and they started a new war in 1791.
As Marie Antoinette came from Austria she had Austrian backing. Her mother was Empress of Austria, eventually succeeded by Joseph, Marie Antoinette's brother. The Empress and Joseph pushed Marie Antoinette very hard to try to have more and more influence on her husband so she Austrian goals were met, though, Austria did nothing in order to help out France. At the time of the revolution, her brother Joseph died and her nephew who succeeded him was on the throne, and as he had never met his aunt, he didn't really care. At that time, Austria and France also declared each other war once again. England could have helped the Royal family, if they weren't at war with them over the freedom of America. The English Queen at the time wrote "Tis shame upon those of the French Monach, to have thought they could be under our wing, if they had only thought straight". None of the Countries really cared, as they saw France as no allie of theirs, but if you have anymore questions I suggest you ask "Mascha", as she is very experienced and knowledgable in this department! (Thank you MarieAntoinette!)
