the russians had the idea of going into space. so they shot a rocket into orbit. it was unmanned but not robotic. america saw this and did the same soon there was a space race, whoever got to the moon first. then the cold sprang up to prevent the enemy faction from getting to the moon. it was 1961 to 1969 when american astronaut Neil Armstrong set his foot on the moon.
