The Electra, this was a model type name akin to say (Thunderbird) with Ford. By the way, In Greek Mythology- Electra was the daughter of World-Shouldering Titan Atlas-and the mission was designed to circumnavigate the world. Elettra- note Italian spelling was the aptly named Yacht ( a ship) of Radio Pioneer Guglielmo Marconi- and the radio pioneer died in l937. Interesting- in a flash.
It was Fred Noonan
1937 was Earhart's last flight
She was a passenger to publicise the idea of women flying.
She never went to Bermuda Triangle.
5000 miles Amelia Earhart flew across the pacific
Some of her hobbies were reading, and playing the Banjo.
Fred Noonan , a professional navigator, was the only other person with her when she disappeared.
She flew the Atlantic solo in 1932. -(no co-pilot)
Amelia Earhart's role on her first transatlantic flight was to maintain the plane's log. Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937 and was declared dead 2 years later.
I believe Amelia's greatest achievement was her solo flight over the Atlantic in 1932. - ( that is just my opinion, many will have other opinions.)
Amelia Earhart's plane, a Lockheed Electra 10E, was purchased for approximately $80,000 in 1936, which is equivalent to about $1.5 million today when adjusted for inflation. The aircraft was specially modified for her around-the-world flight attempt in 1937. Earhart's investment in the plane reflected her commitment to aviation and her pioneering spirit.
Amelia Earhart got lost on her 1937 flight. She was said to be lost "at sea." Amelia Earhart was never found since. -VA
