The Red Baron.
Billy Bishop was a pilot in WW1, he was credited with 72 victories. Best Canadian Pilot, top score in Britain's empire and second ranking in the allies side.. Btw, He fought against "The Red Baron" both opponents scored direct hits but without been able to bring down each other.
The "Red Baron" flew both of a Fokker Dr.1 and an Albatros D.III during his career, he made 60 kills in the Albatros D III. This was the first of his planes to be painted red, and the one that earned him his name. During the latter part of his career he flew the red Fokker DR I triplane which was also painted red.
He probably qualified in England as he was considered an RAF officer, eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, Major for most of his fighting days. Bishop was the leading allied ace ( In world war I) with 72 Confirmed kills. ( The Red Baron had 8l). Highest ranking Yank ace was, of course Eddie Rickenbacker, Captain, USA, at I believe 26 confirmed kills in aerial battle. (The US was only in the war one year) Had they been in from l9l4, kill tallies would have been much larger. ) Only one US designed and made pursuit (Fighter) plane was used in the War, this being the Thomas Morse or ( Tommy Morse). Most American airmen flew French Spads or Nieuports with Yank Markings.

The Red Baron.
The Red Baron was Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen of Germany. He was the most successful flying ace of WW1 with 80 confirmed kills.
Not all his "kills" were verified. 59 of his victories came from solo flights and were unverified. This in itself casts some doubt on the number.
his real name was Manfred Von Richthofen. He was a German baron who flew in the German airforce during WWI. To this day, he holds the record of most aviator kills. 80 of them.
The mother of Billy Loomis (one of the killers in the first film) and Mickey.
Manfred von Richthofen was known as the Red Baron in World War One. He was known to take down at least 80 aircraft in his time, some with more than one passenger. The number of registered kills he had could be up to 100 or more, but know one knows for sure.
Arthur Roy Brown was a World War I air ace. He scored 10 kills in all, with his final victim being Manfred von Richthofen who was known as the "Red Baron".

Manfed von Richthofen was the most famous German pilot of WWI, he was called the Red Baron because most of the planes he flew were painted red and he was a Frieherr. Frieherr was an heredity German title of nobility comparable to an English Lord or a French Count. During WWI, Germans called him "der Rote Kampfflieger" which is roughly "the Red Fighter Pilot" however now he is referred to as "der Rote Baron" in Germany also. Although the Red Baron is often associated with the Fokker Triplane for most of WWI, he flew biplane's. 20 of his 80 confirmed kills were in the either the F.1 or D.1 Triplanes. If 80 seems like a low number compared to WWII German aces (Hartman had 352 kills), it must be remembered that in WWI it only counted as a kill if the downed craft was verified by the German army - so any the planes that the Red Baron shot down over enemy territory didn't count.
