Christopher Columbus took permission from the queen to go on his voyage to America.
He took roughly 87 men
Columbus was born in Italy, but his interest with the sea took him to Portugal. When Portugal's King said he would not found his voyage,he went to Spain who did.
he didnt find the treasure and the third ship recked.
It took 7 months and 12 days. hope that helps!! :-)
The Mayflower took 65 days. Christopher Columbus' voyage to "The New World" took about 60 days, also.
he was at sea for his first voyage for about 2 years
They were the Nina (piloted by Vicente Añes Pinzón), the Pinta (piloted by Martín Alonso Pinzón), and the Santa Maria (captained by Christopher Columbus himself).
They were 75 feet long and had a crew of 2 dozen men .
Columbus never made land in North America, so he didn't take any ships to " New York". NY also did not exist in the 1400's. Nothing was there until the Dutch founded a colony 200 years later. So, he,took ZERO ships to NY.
Christopher Columbus was on a voyage to find a shorter route to Asia for the purpose of trade. Europeans were traveling to Asia by sailing around the southern tip of Africa or overland through Arabia. If he had been successful, it would have allowed Spain to enter into the spice trade with the east, but he seriously underestimated the circumference of the earth. See the link below for more information.
His voyage required four months, but one month of that was spent in the Canary Island.
