Albert Einstein was a pacifist. Which means he was against war and wanted peace. At first he didn't want any of his scientific discoveries to be used in the war.
However he later gave up his pacifism and begged President Roosevelt to build the nuclear bomb before Hitler did. Because if Hitler had been successful with nuclear weaponry, the allies would have certainly lost the war.
