There was more than one Israelite by that name. They are found in 1 Chronicles ch.2,6, and 15. The one mentioned in Psalms was a Levite who sung in the Temple.

Over forty men wrote the bible. All had many different occupations. If you are looking for certain ones i would name a book to find its author.
The Bible (Genesis 11:26-32) does not mention his occupation, only giving a genealogy leading up to Abram. One could make an educated guess that he may have been a herder or a tent maker or a moon god.
