At the outbreak of World War I, the Schlieffen Plan was intended to achieve a stable front in France and Belgium so that troops could then be diverted to attacking Russia. Unexpected delays (Belgian resistance, British troop arrivals) meant that the Western Front was only partly secured by the time the Russians entered Prussia. This forced Germany into an extended two-front war that was logistically difficult to fight.
Germany's general strategy throughout World War II was called Blitzkrieg. It was extremely efficient against France. However, as with Napoleon's army, the German attempt to attack Russia was miserably unsuccessful.
Blitzkrieg (German for Lightning War)
It involved using massed numbers of tanks. During ww1 tanks were thought of as infantry support and were rarely amassed in large numbers.

Germany's plan for fighting a two front war against France and Russia during WWI was called the Schlieffen Plan. This plan allowed Germany to invade neutral areas.
In a word: No. Before WWI, Germany had devised a plan to combat the Triple Entente of Britain, France, and Russia. Their plan was called the Schlieffen Plan, after its major architecht. The plan called for a push through Belgium and Luxembourg into northern France, to knock them out of the war quickly. Then, they could focus on Russia alone. In the end, it was Russia who was knocked out of the war first.
