Henry Tudor won the throne when he was 27 years old. He had not been trained in statesmanship and warfare as most kings were, and had to learn on his own. His meticulously planned ascent to the throne with only a connection to the throne via a Lancastrian bastard is to be admired. Henry was a competent statesman with a knack for putting himself and his family in the best political position.
