Polk served from March 4, 1845 - March 4, 1849. (Inauguration day has been moved to January since then.)

He was born on November 2, 1795, so he would have been 49 at his inauguration in 1845, and 53 on leaving office. He died in Nashville on June 15, 1849, at the age of 53.

Pretty young!
