This question about Stalin's efforts in World War 2 requires a long explanation so I have attached a link to give you a full idea of Josef Stalins actions. He was responsible for half the victory of defeating Germany on the European soil.
Stalin's country really just held off the German advance at a huge cost in life, and they kept the Germans occupied until D-Day. The Russian's were only able to do so because of their massive population and the Russian winter which stopped Napoleon as well. When the allies stormed Normandy the Russians also began an offensive, eventually taking Berlin. Stalin him self coordinated with the rest of the wars leaders, and did to some extent what Churchill and Roosevelt did in keeping the people going.
Without Stalin, the allies would've lost the war. Plain and simple. Stalin was forced to eliminate leading military officials. Many people would categorize this as a BAD move, HOWEVER, anyone eliminated was a Trotskyite, if Trotskyite officials and propagandists were allowed to remain another civil war would've broke out in Russia. This would have made Russia weak, and brought it to the point where it couldn't contribute to the war. Fortunately, thanks to Stalin, that didn't happen. His economic policies were also brilliant and played a key part in the war. Russia had a 5 year increase of 200% economically, which completely shattered international records, and put Russia on the map as a superpower.
My answer: •Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact
-Extra time to reinforce Soviet military
-Extra time to shift Soviet borders westward for security reasons
•June, 1941: Assumed control of the military after Germany invaded the USSR during World War II
•1945 Participated in the Potsdam Conference after Germany surrendered
Joseph Stallin was the dictator of The Communist Russia during WW2.He had established a friendship with Adolf Hitler leader of Nazi Germany and had promised not to fight each other.Stallin took over one of the lands that Hitler wanted to take over,so Hitler became mad at him and attacked Russia. This caused Russia to leave the Axis powers and join the Allies.
Actually this is not true. Stalin and Hitler were never friends, they had different ideals and had temporarily set aside their differences and made a non-aggression pact which neither of them intended to keep. Hitler offered Stalin the pact to avoid fighting his War on two fronts and Stalin agreed to buy himself time. In the agreement Stalin was to take the Baltic States and Eastern Poland which was previously USSR territory which was lost after WWI. (Plowright, 2007). After they sacked Poland Hitler decided to go forward with his previous plan to invade Russia in early Summer of 41 but he had underestimated the size of Russia and was unprepared for the early winter. Hitler's plan was to sack Russia and use her for Nazi expansion but Stalin had all of the farmland and livestock burned to starve out the German military and forced them to rely on their own resources which quickly ran out. (Plowright, 2007).
