Harrison also did vocals. He started emerging as a songwriter during the group's time together, meaning he wrote some of the songs. Ringo Starr was the drummer for the group.
He could arguably be considered the group's founder, having played in a skiffle band with mates from Liverpool when he was a teen. Bandmate Pete Shotten introduced him to Paul McCartney, who subsequently introduced him to George Harrison. He and McCartney became a songwriting team. The rest is history.
