The USS Oriskany was an aircraft carrier. It was in both the Korean and Vietnam War. It was designed to hold between 90 and 100 airplanes. It would hold up to 2,600 crew members.

The USS Flasher (SSN-613) was deployed to the western Pacific at intervals during the Vietnam conflict, so, yes, it was operating in support of military activity there.

During the Vietnam War, US Battleships (USS New Jersey), Cruisers, and Destroyers sometimes traded salvos with North Vietnamese SHORE BATTERIES. US Aircraft Carriers were always kept out of range of COMMUNIST SHORE BATTERIES.

USS Texas is the only dreadnaught remaining afloat. It is a WW1 ship. Her last war was WW2. Her sister was the battleship USS New York, which was sunk in the Pacific Ocean as a target, after WW2. The only US battleship to fight in Vietnam was the Iowa class battleship USS New Jersey.
