No, but on many occasions they carried aircraft armed with torpedoes.

No US Aircraft Carriers have been lost in combat since WW2. Many US Navy Riverine Boats (Brown Water Navy) were lost in combat during the Vietnam War; two US Navy Aircraft Carriers came close to being lost, the USS Forestall and the USS Oriskany after jet aircraft/ordinance exploded causing massive fires and casualties during the Vietnam War. US Navy Destroyer, DD-806 USS Higbee was struck by a bomb which was dropped by a North Vietnamese Air Force MIG-17 in April 1972. No casualties, but the aft 5" gun mount was destroyed.

There were several Navy jets used in Vietnam, however, the primary fighter aircraft was the F-4 Phantom and the retiring F-8 Crusader. The Navy also used many of their Korean era aircraft in an attack role, one in particular was the A-1 Skyraider. The US Navy also used the A-4 Skyhawk, the A-6 Intruder, and the A-7 Corsair II. The Navy used quite a few specialty aircraft for spotting, surveillance, and refuelling. This was a big period of experimental aircraft for the Navy, but many of these aircraft were not built as the conflict was quickly being brought to a halt. Gene Davis

It depends on what you classify as 'cannons' . Many aircraft were fitted with 20mm guns in exactly the same way as machine guns were. Some aircraft such as the Stuka, some other German aircraft and a few British aircraft were fitted with larger guns of 37- 40-mm calibre and these were often carried in pods under the wings and had very limited ammunition due to it's weight.
Yes indeed; Skyhawks played key roles in the Vietnam War, the Yom Kippur War, and the Falklands War. They were a superb low level strike aircraft and have used by many air forces around the world. In Vietnam they were used from US Navy carriers.
2009, searches are still being carried out in Viet nam, laos and Cambodia. It will take many years to complete the task
Yes. There have been many infrared telescopes built, deployed on the ground, launched by balloon, carried on aircraft, rockets, and in orbit.
