I would say that the lack of missionaries and the denseness of the country, lack of maps, and general information about the interior of Africa was a large factor in not being able to spread the Gospel there. There were many tribes with different languages and communication would have been very difficult also.

I think the most important climatr factor in Africa are Wind ang Temperature
No because only polygons whose interior angles are a factor of 360 will tessellate. For instance a regular pentagon will not tessellate because its interior angle is 108 degrees but a hexagon will tessellate because its interior angle is 120 degrees which is a factor of 360.
