Sleep where you could. A group of 5-6 of you cooked what food you had over an open fire. A lot of walking. In many cases, a lot of digging for trenches. More walking. Try to find clean water to drink. Smack some bugs. You might be sick from bad water, poor food, or being dirty a lot. More walking. Sometimes fighting, which was confused, loud and scary. More walking. Cook dinner, try to find a warm dry place to sleep. Maybe sew up your torn shirt, write a letter home, clean your rifle, try to find a place to wash. If you were cavalry feed and care for your horse.
