Hey!
Africville was a village, that was built by black slaves that ran away during the War of 1812. It was built in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but then from 1960-1970, the city of Halifax started to destroy their houses. The residents of Africville had to escape during the nights as bulldozers came in through the front and back of their homes. In the end their homes were gone and they had nothing left, no money, clothes, shelter anything.
The cast of Remember Africville - 1991 includes: Delvina Bernard as Narrator
Africville ended because the Government of Halifax (I think) wanted to build a bridge exactly where Africville was. The sad thing was many lost their homes. The best news about it was they gave them new homes. Hope this helps!
