Entertainment facilities weren't allowed inside the City of London - instead they had to be outside the outskirts. It was considered "rougher" because a lot of the poor people were to be found there.
We presume that Shakespeare did not start writing plays until after he moved to London to make a living in the entertainment world.

They probably played music and told stories and did plays and stuff. The really rich people probably read. There were probably some simple games like "tag" also. Most people at this time could not afford anything for entertainment, though.
From a wealthy family, attending the best schools, in London England in the 1600s, I would say by most measures about as good as it could get.
