Farming in the 1500's and 1600's was extremely difficult. Most peoples complete livelyhood and whether they survived was based on whether there was a good crop or not. People would be out in the fields, as well as children. Working most of the day by hand in the sun on crops. It was hard work that yielded very little. Many people starved. Most farming back then was done by hand and with hand tools such as the hand scyth and the beginning of the use of horses to assist in farming. Starting in the 1500's to the 1850's an acgricultural revolution started in Europe. This started with the selective breeding of livestock and new cropping systems with turnips and clovers. This replaced low yield crops with higer yielding ones. Thus feeding more people.
