She was accused of causing a rift between the Prefect of Alexandria & the Bishop of Alexandria. Initially, the Christians who killed Hypatia were actually going to kill the Prefect, until they learned that he was a Christian. So they turned on Hypatia instead.
Hypatia was a female scholar who lived in the city of Alexandria. She was violently killed (flayed alive and then burned) by a Christian mob because they believed her to be a witch/pagan. So you might say her contribution was dying?
