Coffee is believed to have been discovered in Ethiopia and the use of it spread to Yemen, Egypt, the Middle East, Europe and South America and North America. It was considered to have been discovered during the 15th century, the Renaissance period. This era was a time of tremendous progress in construction, art and sciences. But, it is also the time of the Ottomans and other ruling bodies who want to rule the world. Coffee was discovered to have a "zip" effect in the human body. Its use spread and became popular. It was fixed differently according to the type of coffee beans used and the culture of the people drinking it. Some women put it in food to flavor food products. Ersatz coffee was an imitation coffee often made from chicory. It was used during World War 2 on the home front of the United States, England and other countries. The soldiers could get real coffee since the home front gave it up for them. the soldiers also had the ersatz coffee when coffee shipments were on ships the Germans sunk.
