Not so long ago there was a time before the NHS when health care was something you didn't get so easily. Poor families would have to pay 13p, which is equivalent to £10 nowadays, (unless you go privately) it costs nothing just to see a doctor. If you could afford to pay a doctor you had to find the money or it meant that you were rich. This was a problem because the poor were probably more in need of health care than the rich, yet they could not get the care they needed everytime.

There is a huge advantage in having the NHS because we are not having to dig deep into our pockets and pay for health care. In developing countries such as Africa people have to pay for health care and some cases of D.I.Y health care are emerging! However with more and more hospitals treating patients terribly perhaps there should be more private health care clinicls available afterall it's the reliability that counts!
