Terrible as the soldiers could get trenchfoot and could get lice all over their clothes. Most soldiers suffered shellshock in the trenches due the loud noises of the howitzers(artillery).

The hospitals in Russia during World War II were crowded and understaffed. They had more patients than they could handle and many people died from lack of medical care.
