The short answer would be that the development of Conservative Judaism in Germany was the direct precursor of the Jewish Theological Seminary, even though a pivotal founder was a Sephardic Jew by the name of Sabato Morais. Conservative Judaism, like Reform Judaism in Germany, sought to emulate aspects of gentile service in Germany while still remaining true to Jewish tradition. Look up the "Wissenschaft des Judentums" (Science of Judaism), as expounded by Prof. David N. Myers.
Until 1939 Lemberg (Lviv) was a thriving centre of Judaism and Jewish culture.
peaceful. not a mess
It will never happen. You can't compare Germany and Russia. For the most part Nazism was outlawed after WW2 and Germany is a democracy. Russia has been communist since the early 1900's and it is the government that has continued to be communist. In fact, today it is stronger in it's communist philosophy than it has been in years. Putin has maintained a strong dictatorship in recent years.
In respect to Germany in World War II, the basic tenets of Nazism were both numerous and, undeniably, powerfully influential in their time. The most important tenets included the following: that Germany had been abused by the international community and deserved to exact a vengeful justice in return; that Germans were members of a superior racial-ethnic stock; that Jews and Judaism more generally should be held responsible for many of modern Europe's problems; and that Nazi leadership represented a new era in human government, which could not fail in its objectives and was defending both Germany and civilization in general.
People who practice Judaism are Jews.
